Recovery tests you can witness
For each cable type we strip representative samples, weigh the metal and calculate recovery percentage. Sorting first – copper from aluminium, armoured from unarmoured, thick power cable from thin control cable – lets every group earn its own rate. In one 3-tonne lot from an NCR factory project, the large single-core cable alone carried most of the value once tested separately.
Transformers: copper or aluminium?
Winding metal is the biggest value driver: a copper-wound unit is worth far more than an aluminium-wound unit of the same kVA. We check nameplates, records and connections, offer whole-unit or component-wise quotes, and drain oil into sealed drums for authorised re-refiners. Older units may need a PCB test.

How is copper cable scrap priced?
By copper recovery percentage: stripped samples show the copper share, and the cable is priced at that share of the copper grade rate, minus processing.
How much is an old transformer worth as scrap?
It depends on rating, weight and winding metal. Copper-wound units are worth much more than aluminium-wound ones. Component-wise dismantling gives the most accurate value.
What happens to transformer oil?
It is drained into sealed drums and sent only to authorised re-refiners, with disposal records. Older units may be tested for PCBs.
